Posted by CNN Health on March 26, 2018 08:21:18The Houston Children’s and Children’s hospitals are the world’s most valuable hospitals, according to a new study.
The Houston Chronicle’s analysis of the Forbes list of the top 50 largest U.S. hospitals shows that Houston Childrens is the most valuable, at $2,099 billion.
The Children’s was founded in 1884 as the first children’s home for the poor.
Today, the Children’s is the third-largest institution in the United States and is home to more than 60,000 patients and more than $500 million in revenue.
The state is home of the Childrens Children’s Medical Center and the Texas Childrens Memorial Hermann Hospital, the latter of which opened in 2019.
In its report, the Chronicle looked at the health system’s revenue, expenses and assets.
It noted that the hospitals revenue includes medical care for more than 100,000 people and that the total medical services for Texas children is $2 billion.
In the rankings, Texas Children was the No. 2 most valuable hospital in the world, with a market value of $2 million, followed by the Texas Veterans Affairs Memorial Hermanns Memorial Health System, with $1.8 billion.
Louisiana Childrens was at No. 3 with a $1 million market value.
Texas Veterans Memorial Hermannis Memorial Health Systems had $1 billion.
